Six peaks without leaving a green run
Sunday River spreads across eight interconnected peaks in Newry, Maine, linked so completely that a beginner can descend from the summit of Jordan Bowl and cross six mountains to the White Cap base
Its visitors enjoy the most dependable conditions in the East paired with a compact base area, premier accommodations, and the village of Bethel six miles down the road. Sunday River covers roughly 870 acres across 135 trails, rising 2,340 vertical feet from an 800-foot base. Each of the eight peaks has its own character: Jordan Bowl draws the crowds, Aurora Peak stays quieter, White Cap holds the steep terrain including White Heat, and North Peak is family territory. Nearly 300 acres are developed glades. The lift network includes New England’s only Chondola, a hybrid that runs six-person chairs and gondola cabins on the same line, plus an eight-passenger chair serving Jordan Bowl. Snowmaking covers about 95% of the mountain, which is why the conditions hold when the weather doesn’t.
