Stratton sits on southern Vermont’s highest peak, where Jake Burton tested his earliest board prototypes and convinced the resort to open its lifts to snowboarders in 1983

Its visitors enjoy meticulously groomed terrain paired with a purpose-built pedestrian village, premier accommodations, and some of the most reliable conditions in the East. Stratton covers more than 600 acres across roughly 97 trails, rising 2,003 vertical feet from base to summit. Beginners get something unusual here: a green run all the way from the top. Intermediates have long groomed cruisers, and advanced skiers head for World Cup, Bear Down, and well over 100 acres of glades. The Sun Bowl on the far side has its own base lodge, slopeside parking, and two high-speed six-packs. In the cobblestoned and compact village at the base, cafés and après patios stay busy well after the lifts stop.
