One of New England’s most accessible resorts
Just two hours from Boston, Lincoln is a former logging town at the western end of the Kancamagus Highway, where Loon Mountain has been drawing skiers into the White Mountains since 1966.
Its visitors enjoy 2,190 feet of vertical and 73 trails spread across 403 acres on three peaks, with intermediate terrain making up the biggest share. The high-speed Kancamagus 8 and a gondola to the summit of Loon Peak keep skiers moving, and extensive snowmaking backs up a New Hampshire winter that doesn't always cooperate. Being just a few miles off the interstate makes Loon Mountain an easy weekend from Boston, with Lincoln's restaurants, breweries, and shops a short drive from the lifts. In summer and fall, the gondola carries visitors back up to Loon Peak for glacial caves, hiking, and mountaintop disc golf, while a zipline crosses the Pemigewasset River at the base.
