Twenty-five miles of shoreline
Kennebunk Beach is really three beaches in a row, and Dock Square sits about fifteen minutes away on foot, which is most of the appeal of this stretch of coast
Its visitors enjoy wide sand beaches paired with walkable village centers, premier accommodations, and a working coastline that still lands lobster every morning. Mornings tend to start on the sand: Kennebunk Beach is a few minutes from the door, and Long Sands in York runs a mile and a half if you want room to spread out. Afternoons in Dock Square are filled with galleries and restaurants just across the river, Ogunquit’s Marginal Way traces a mile of cliff between Perkins Cove and the beach, and the marsh boardwalks at the Rachel Carson refuge in Wells stay quiet even in August. Dinner is usually a seafood shack, and the best of them sit on working docks in Cape Porpoise, three miles past the shops.
