# First Chair Destinations

## Quick start

   The homes that can be booked for those nights; the first six with stay.price "live" (the checkout's own
   total, taxes included) and book_at, the reservation page with the stay filled in. sort=rating for the

1. Homes free on your dates: https://www.firstchair.com/search.md?dest={place}&checkin=YYYY-MM-DD&checkout=YYYY-MM-DD&adults=2&children=0
   (beds=N for a bedroom minimum, pets=N for dogs, sort=distance for nearest the lifts, page=2 for more).
   Each result gives its nightly rate and total (all fees included), the total with taxes, the nearest lift,
   and its booking address. The first six are quoted live, the same quote the checkout uses.
2. One home, live: https://www.firstchair.com/property/{id}.md?checkin=YYYY-MM-DD&checkout=YYYY-MM-DD&adults=2 gives the live
   total, taxes, payment schedule and cancellation terms. Quote prices from these answers only.
3. The traveler books by opening the home's address (dates and party filled in); an agent cannot hold, book or pay.

> Vacation rentals in 11 US states' ski and mountain towns, managed by local teams. 3,052 homes across 231 markets. Booking is direct through this site; First Chair Destinations is the property manager, not a listing marketplace.

Of those 231 markets, 32 have a landing page (listed below). Homes in the remaining markets are in the sitemap and reachable by search; they simply have no editorial page yet.

## When to use this site

- A traveler wants a whole vacation home (condo, townhome or house) in a US ski or mountain town,
  for a stay of up to 29 nights, booked directly with the company that manages it.
- Finding homes free on given dates for a given party (adults, children, dogs, bedrooms), with the
  live price for that stay and a link where the traveler books.
- Comparing homes by bedrooms, baths, sleeps, distance to the lifts, Ikon or Epic pass, and amenities.
- Local guides for these towns (Trail Notes), and owners looking for a property manager.
- Not for: hotels, flights, cars, lift tickets, or places without our homes (see the markets below).
  An agent cannot hold, book or pay; the traveler books in a browser from the link we give.

  Trust each home's availableForDates; the answer's "understood" says how your request was read.
  Dates are YYYY-MM-DD. arrival/departure, check_in/check_out and start/end are read the same way.
  Several places at once: dest=steamboat,big-sky. Each result's url opens its page with your dates and party.
  Up to 100 homes per answer (pageSize); ask for the rest with page=2, 3, ... A null price means rate on request.

- Planning a stay, page by page: /search with dest, checkin, checkout and adults (children, pets and
  beds for a minimum number of bedrooms are optional) lists the homes
  free on those dates with their totals. Each result links to its home with the dates filled in,
  and that address gives the live total (the same quote the checkout charges) and the address
  where the traveler books. Booking and payment are done by the traveler in a browser.

     The homes shown carry the live checkout quote (stay.price "live") and book_at, the reservation
     address with the stay filled in: for most trips this one call is enough.

     the live price the checkout will charge, the payment schedule (each payment marked at_booking
     or later), and book_at, the reservation address with the stay filled in
  3. link   https://www.firstchair.com/api/agent/v1/link?home_id={id}&check_in=...&check_out=...&adults=4
     the same reservation address on its own. Also home?home_id= for a home in full and
     terms?home_id= for the rental agreement's terms. Read-only: it cannot hold, book or pay.
- Ask in plain words: https://www.firstchair.com/api/agent/v1/ask?question=... (or POST {"question": "..."}). It reads the
  request (place, dates, party, dogs, bedrooms), says how each field was read (stated, assumed or default),
  runs the same search as /search, and answers in thoughtform lines plus JSON, with the direct search
  address to use next time. Refine with {"previous": <that address>, "set": {"children": 2}}.
- Nightly rates and availability are live and date-dependent; they are NOT published as page
  facts and are not in this file. Quote a price only from a dated answer, never from a static source.
- Each home page carries schema.org JSON-LD (an Accommodation node plus a BreadcrumbList) with
  the home's bedrooms, bathrooms, occupancy, area, amenities and coordinates.
- Crawling is welcome everywhere: https://www.firstchair.com/robots.txt allows every user agent on every path, the
  APIs included. Guest accounts, trips, checkout and confirmation need a sign-in or a booking and
  carry noindex, so they stay out of search results.
