It's visitors enjoy 385 acres and nearly 80 trails, with 2,153 feet of vertical. Nine lifts serve the mountain, including Vermont’s only aerial tramway, built by Von Roll in 1966 and fitted with new 60-passenger cabins in 2000. A large share of the terrain is rated advanced or expert, and there are more than 100 acres of glades. Pacific Group Resorts has owned Jay since 2022, and the mountain is on the Indy Pass: two days a season, with no blackout dates on Indy+. Jay sits about four miles from the Quebec border in the Northeast Kingdom, roughly two hours from Montreal and about 90 minutes from Burlington’s airport. The village is small, home to the Jay Country Store and the Jay Village Inn. The Pump House, Vermont’s first indoor waterpark, covers 60,000 square feet with four waterslides, an activity river, an indoor activity pool, and hot tubs. ## Everything you need to know ### How do I get to Jay Peak? Burlington International Airport (BTV) is about 65 miles southwest, roughly an hour and a half by car. Montreal is a little under two hours away, plus time at the border crossing. The closest crossing is North Troy/Highwater. ### How much snow does Jay Peak get? The resort reports an average of about 350 inches a season, the highest of any ski area in the Northeast. ### Is Jay Peak on the Epic or Ikon Pass? Neither. Jay Peak is on the Indy Pass, which includes two days at the resort with no blackout dates, and the resort sells its own season pass. Jay passholders can add the Indy AddOn Pass for two days at each partner resort. ### How big is Jay Peak? 385 acres and nearly 80 trails, with 2,153 feet of vertical from a 3,862-foot summit, served by nine lifts. ### Does Jay Peak have a tram? Yes. Jay Peak’s aerial tramway, the only one in Vermont, was built by Von Roll in 1966 and fitted with new cabins in 2000. It’s the only lift that runs to the summit. ### Is Jay Peak hard? Roughly 46 percent of the terrain is rated advanced or expert, and the glades are what the mountain is known for. Beginners have dedicated learning areas with their own lifts at both base areas, and there’s intermediate terrain across the mountain, about 19 percent is beginner and 35 percent intermediate. ### Is Jay Peak good for families? The Pump House is Vermont's only indoor waterpark, 60,000 square feet with four waterslides, an activity river, an indoor activity pool, and hot tubs. It gives a family somewhere to go on a day nobody wants to ski. ### Do I need a passport to visit Jay Peak? Only if you are crossing the border.
