Attitash is the bigger of the two: 311 acres, 68 trails, and 1,750 feet of vertical on US Route 302 in Bartlett, with more than 60 acres of tree skiing and 23 miles of trails. It is a Vail Resorts mountain and runs on the Epic Pass, along with nearby Wildcat. Cranmore, in North Conway, covers more than 170 acres with 56 trails and glades and a 1,200-foot vertical, served by seven lifts. It is independently owned and on neither Epic nor Ikon, so the two mountains take different tickets. North Conway is the valley's town, and it is a shopping destination as much as a ski one: Settlers Green Outlet Village holds more than 60 stores, and New Hampshire charges no sales tax. Boston is about 130 miles away by I-95, the Spaulding Turnpike, and Route 302, and Portland International Jetport is roughly 70 miles and an hour and 15 minutes from North Conway. In summer, Cranmore runs a mountain coaster, a giant swing, and a lift-served bike park. ## Everything you need to know ### How do I get to the Mount Washington Valley? Portland International Jetport (PWM) is about 70 miles from North Conway, roughly an hour and 15 minutes by car. Manchester-Boston Regional (MHT) is the other common option, and both have rental cars. From Boston it is about 130 miles by I-95, the Spaulding Turnpike, and Route 302. ### Is Attitash on the Epic Pass? Yes. Attitash is a Vail Resorts mountain and is on the Epic Pass, along with nearby Wildcat. Cranmore is independently owned and is on neither Epic nor Ikon. ### How big is Attitash? 311 acres and 68 trails with a 1,750-foot vertical drop, plus more than 60 acres of tree skiing. Trails run about 29 percent beginner, 44 percent intermediate, and 27 percent advanced. ### How big is Cranmore? More than 170 acres with 56 trails and glades and a 1,200-foot vertical drop, served by seven lifts. About half the trails are intermediate and 18 are set aside for beginners. ### Should I stay in Bartlett or North Conway? Bartlett puts you at the base of Attitash, and some lodging there is a walk from the lifts. North Conway has the restaurants, the outlets, and Cranmore. They are minutes apart, so either works for skiing both. ### Is there shopping in North Conway? Yes. Settlers Green Outlet Village has more than 60 stores, and New Hampshire charges no sales tax. ### What is there to do here in summer? Cranmore runs a Mountain Adventure Park with a mountain coaster, a giant swing, summer tubing, a scenic chairlift, a climbing wall, and a lift-served downhill bike park. Attitash runs a summer adventure park at its base. ### Do I need a rental car here? Yes. Attitash sits on Route 302 in Bartlett, Cranmore is in North Conway, and the valley's restaurants and shops spread along Route 16.
