It’s visitors enjoy a terrain that centers on Schweitzer Bowl on the front side and Outback Bowl behind it, with 92 named runs across 2,900 acres, the most of any ski area in Idaho or Washington. Sandpoint sits 11 miles below the mountain on the shore of Lake Pend Oreille, and the homes that serve Schweitzer are split between the base and the town. ## Everything you need to know ### Where is Schweitzer? Schweitzer sits in the Selkirk Mountains of the Idaho panhandle, 11 miles above the town of Sandpoint and about 80 miles from Spokane, Washington. ### Is Schweitzer on the Ikon Pass? Yes. Alterra Mountain Company bought Schweitzer in 2023. Full Ikon Pass holders get unlimited days, and Ikon Base Pass holders get five. ### How big is Schweitzer? 2,900 acres and 92 named runs across two bowls, which makes it the largest ski area in Idaho and the largest in the Pacific Northwest by skiable acreage. ### How do I get to Schweitzer? Spokane International Airport (GEG) in Washington, about 80 miles west, is the airport most visitors use. Sandpoint is the last town before the mountain road. ### Should I stay at Schweitzer or in Sandpoint? Schweitzer has lodging at the base, right at the lifts. Sandpoint, 11 miles down the hill on Lake Pend Oreille, is the larger town, with more restaurants, shops, and lake access. Homes are available in both. ### Is Schweitzer worth visiting in summer? Yes. The Great Escape Quad runs daily from mid June into early September, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., carrying hikers and mountain bikers to the ridge for views over Lake Pend Oreille. Schweitzer also sells a pass covering unlimited chairlift rides, ziplining, a climbing wall, and a trampoline. ### How many days should I stay at Schweitzer? Three to four days covers both bowls without rushing and leaves a day for Sandpoint and the lake. If you are flying into Spokane, 80 miles west, build the drive into your first and last days. ## All homes in Sandpoint - [Blue Moose Downtown Home](https://www.firstchair.com/property/1087791) · 3 bd · sleeps 6 - [Crystal Run](https://www.firstchair.com/property/1087794) · 2 bd · sleeps 6 - [Crystal Runaway](https://www.firstchair.com/property/1087807) · 4 bd · sleeps 9 - [Driftwood 5](https://www.firstchair.com/property/1087773) · 2 bd · sleeps 4 - [Idaho Club Lodge Home](https://www.firstchair.com/property/1087775) · 5 bd · sleeps 12 - [Kootenai Haus](https://www.firstchair.com/property/1087808) · 3 bd · sleeps 8 - [Red Cricket 22](https://www.firstchair.com/property/1087772) · 1 bd · sleeps 3 - [Sandpoint Paradise](https://www.firstchair.com/property/1087777) · 3 bd · sleeps 6 - [Seasons 331 - Penthouse](https://www.firstchair.com/property/1087771) · 3 bd · sleeps 8 - [Ski Slope Condo](https://www.firstchair.com/property/1087784) · sleeps 4 - [South Sandpoint Charmer](https://www.firstchair.com/property/1087803) · 4 bd · sleeps 8 - [Starpoint Getaway](https://www.firstchair.com/property/1087765) · 2 bd · sleeps 6 - [The River House](https://www.firstchair.com/property/1087793) · 1 bd · sleeps 4 - [Whiplash](https://www.firstchair.com/property/1087802) · 3 bd · sleeps 8 --- For photos, current rates and availability, see the page: https://www.firstchair.com/destinations/idaho/schweitzer
