Beaver Creek spans roughly 2,000 acres and rises 3,340 feet to an 11,440-foot summit. Beginners have McCoy Park, a dedicated learning area up top rather than a corner of the base, and Bachelor Gulch Mountain runs almost entirely gentle. Intermediates get long groomed cruisers across all three peaks, and experienced skiers head for the bumps and glades of Grouse Mountain or Birds of Prey, the World Cup downhill course that hosts Audi FIS racing each December. You can ski village to village, Beaver Creek to Bachelor Gulch to Arrowhead, on mostly beginner and intermediate terrain, and free shuttles connect all three when you’d rather not. ## Everything you need to know ### How do I get to Beaver Creek? Eagle County Regional Airport (EGE) sits just under 30 miles away, roughly a 25 to 30 minute drive, with nonstop service from Dallas, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta, Houston, Miami, and Denver. Denver International Airport (DEN) is about 120 miles east, roughly two hours by car. Both offer shuttle service to the resort. ### Do I need a rental car in Beaver Creek? No. Village Connect is a free on-demand shuttle covering Beaver Creek Village, Bachelor Gulch, and Arrowhead, running from 7 a.m. to midnight and requested through an app. Core Transit runs free routes throughout Eagle County, and Avon operates its own free buses to the mountain base. ### What are the three villages? Beaver Creek Village is the main base, with shops, restaurants, an ice rink, and escalator access to the lifts. Bachelor Gulch sits about 4.5 miles away by road and is quieter. Arrowhead is farthest west, around five miles out. All three connect by lift, by trail, and by free shuttle. ### Can I ski between the villages? Yes, and it’s one of the better things to do here. The route from Beaver Creek to Bachelor Gulch to Arrowhead runs across mostly beginner and intermediate terrain, so mixed-ability groups can do it together. Free shuttles bring you back if you’d rather not ski the return. ### Should I stay in Vail or Beaver Creek? Vail is larger, with more terrain, more restaurants, and two walkable villages with an active nightlife scene. Beaver Creek is smaller and quieter, purpose-built around three linked villages, with a stronger emphasis on families. Both sit on the same pass, and a free shuttle runs between them every 20 minutes in winter, so you can ski either from either. ### Can beginners ski Beaver Creek? Yes, and it’s a strong choice. About 28% of the terrain is rated beginner, McCoy Park offers a dedicated learning area up on the mountain rather than at the base, and Bachelor Gulch Mountain is almost entirely gentle. New skiers get real terrain rather than a fenced corner. ### How big is Beaver Creek? Beaver Creek covers roughly 2,000 skiable acres across three peaks: Beaver Creek Mountain, Grouse Mountain, and Bachelor Gulch Mountain, with about 25 lifts. The summit reaches 11,440 feet, with 3,340 feet of vertical from a base at 8,100. ### Is Beaver Creek good for advanced skiers? Yes. Grouse Mountain holds the bumps and glades, and Birds of Prey is a genuine World Cup downhill course that hosts Audi FIS racing each December. Roughly a third of the mountain is rated advanced or expert, so its reputation for polish shouldn’t be mistaken for easy terrain. ### What is Birds of Prey? The World Cup downhill course on Beaver Creek Mountain, used for men’s and women’s Audi FIS Alpine Ski World Cup racing each December. It’s open to the public the rest of the season, and skiing it at a fraction of racing speed is still a serious descent. ### What is Cookie Time? A decades-old tradition. Fresh chocolate chip cookies are handed out free at the base of the mountain each afternoon around three o’clock. The resort also hosts an annual World’s Best Chocolate Chip Cookie Competition, and serves complimentary hot chocolate at the top of Centennial Express in the morning. ### Is Beaver Creek walkable? Very. The village is compact, and heated walkways and escalators connect the shops, restaurants, and accommodations to the lifts: an unusual feature that removes the usual boot-walk from the equation. Bachelor Gulch and Arrowhead are smaller and walkable within themselves. ### How many days should I stay at Beaver Creek? Four to five days works well. The three villages and three peaks take time to cover, and the village-to-village skiing is worth a dedicated day. Groups renting a home often stay a week. ## All homes in Beaver Creek - [A Beaver's Lodge](https://www.firstchair.com/property/1091918) · 2 bd · sleeps 8 - [Beaver Creek Townhomes, L3](https://www.firstchair.com/property/1091924) · 5 bd · sleeps 11 - [Beaver Creeks Meadows](https://www.firstchair.com/property/1091383) · 4 bd · sleeps 8 - [Creekside Beauty in Beaver Creek](https://www.firstchair.com/property/1091412) · 4 bd · sleeps 12 - [The Alpine Nest](https://www.firstchair.com/property/1091411) · 2 bd · sleeps 8 - [The Village Ski-In/Ski-Out](https://www.firstchair.com/property/1091345) · 4 bd · sleeps 9 - [Townsend Place - Beaver Creek Retreat](https://www.firstchair.com/property/1091410) · 1 bd · sleeps 6 - [Townsend Place B206](https://www.firstchair.com/property/1091885) · 1 bd · sleeps 2 - [Wayne Creek Residence](https://www.firstchair.com/property/1091910) · 4 bd · sleeps 9 --- For photos, current rates and availability, see the page: https://www.firstchair.com/destinations/colorado/beaver-creek
